Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal has been arrested. SSP Dan Bahadur Karki of district police Parisar Kathmandu informed that Rijal was arrested during the investigation of fake Bhutanese refugee case.

According to SSP, Rijal was brought from Jhapa to Kathmandu on Thursday. Recently, Rijal has been demanding to solve the problem of more than six thousand Bhutanese refugees who are yet to be resettled. Based on his demand, the Ministry of Home Affairs formed a task force under the leadership of Balkrishna Panthi on June 13th 2019 to solve the Bhutanese refugee problem.

Sanu Bhandari, who was arrested for his involvement in the fraud business of sending Nepali citizens to the United States as Bhutanese refugees, had mentioned in his diary that he had given seven lakh rupees to Rijal. Police sources claim that he was arrested on that basis. Rijal objected that a few days ago he had taken the money in another connection and tried to trick him by saying that he had returned it.
