In 1998–99, Khesari Lal Yadav began his career as a theater artist in Bhojpuri theatre, where he sang songs from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, he also learned the Bhojpuri folk dance Launda Naach. Later he also moved to Delhi, where he started selling litti chokha with his family. With the money left over from selling litti Chokha, he spent Rs. 12,000 to release his first album, but it was a big flop. After this he started working at the then famous Bhojpuri singer Guddu Rangeela’s house, saved some money and released his second album after spending Rs 25,000 which got good response from the audience and got some buzz.

After that, investments in the project started coming from various music companies, but marketing had to be done by myself. He said in various interviews that he used to go to many districts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to promote the cassette of his album, he used to go by train and he used to pay money wherever there were singing and dancing programs day or night. He said that sometimes he sleeps hungry because he has no money to eat. After achieving success as a singer, he decided to move to Mumbai to work in films. In 2012, he made his acting debut with the Bhojpuri film “Saajan Chale Sasural”, in which he played the role of a village boy named Saajan, who moves from the village to the city so that he can marry the girl he belongs to. married The decision was made in childhood.
