May 17, 2023 – The ruling party announced a five-day shutdown in Nepal for not acquitting Resham Chaudhary.
The Nagarik Unmukti party has announced a shutdown in Nepal from May 20 to 25. The protest was announced after the Supreme Court upheld the judgment of the District and High Courts and sentenced Resham Chaudhary to life imprisonment in the Tikapur incident.
Senior vice-president of the party, Damodar Pandit, said that since it is a political issue, it should be resolved politically. He also said that from May 17 to 19, he will hold a rally across the country.
